Our love story is pretty great.

We met at a wedding.

The wedding of our two best friends. Yes, I know it sounds like it came straight from a cheesy Netflix original, but it's true.

My childhood bestie, Linda, met Greg's childhood friend, Kody, at college. They fell in love, set a date, and asked us to stand up in their bridal party. At Linda's bachelorette party, she leaned over and asked me if I was seeing anyone. Slightly offended at the thought that I would be in a relationship without her knowledge, I said no. Thrilled, she said "oh good, because I know who you're going to marry". Girl's got jokes, I thought. We spent the next twenty minutes trying to creep on Greg's overly private Facebook page to get a picture of him, but wouldn't you know it, ALL of his profile pictures were of his beloved truck, deer (hashtag hunter's wife) or various scriptures he liked. Down the rabbit hole that is social media, we finally found a picture of him. Cue butterflies.

he said, she said

I'm sure you're expecting the part in the story where we meet at rehearsal and fall madly in love at first sight, but the truth is, we didn't ever 'officially' meet that weekend, and the only conversation we had was less than enthusiastic. Like 10 words exchanged in total.

I honestly left the wedding weekend thinking "so much for meeting the man of my dreams!" Little did I know, Greg left the wedding that night thinking "I just met the woman of my dreams!" Guess the joke was on me! He added me on all the socials, and I remember almost declining! But something in me felt like I should. If anything, just to see what his life was like in his little hometown of Miami, Oklahoma. I was smitten, to say the least. But I refused to chase him. If he wanted me, he was going to have to work for me, and boy oh boy, did he work!

He ended up coming BACK two weeks later with the sole purpose of spending time with me. He didn't want to make his intentions known until he was certain, but after a weekend of showing him around our city, he was not only sure that he wanted to pursue a relationship with me, but the man had every intention of marrying me!

I said Yes, we said i do

We spent a grueling year doing that awful long distance relationship stuff. We saw each other every few months, and six months to the day of when we first met, he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. DUH.

We decided that since I was still in school, we would have a longer engagement so that I could finish my degree. That would be about a year and a half from when we got engaged. Not ideal, since we both wanted to get married right away, but we really felt good about that choice. As we started looking at dates, we realized that a year and half from engagement was two years to the day since we had first met. It couldn't have been more perfect.

May 24, 2014

The best day ever. I want to relive that day over and over and over. We got married in a big barn in the middle of nowhere with all our friends and family there to celebrate with us. I couldn't have asked for a better day, and I couldn't have prayed for a better husband to share this life with! Love you, hubberts! Honeymoon forever!!
